Polaris continues to have recall issues related to their RZR and which were previously recalled. According to a joint statement issued by CPSC and Polaris, some vehicles that had been repaired under the recall are still experiencing fires. In addition RZRs not included in the recall are experiencing fires as well.

The recall involved approximatelyvehicles. According to management they have put additional manpower and resources into addressing the issue in a systematic way to improve product development, quality control and issue tracking. What is not known is if these issues are related to previous systemic problems before new processes and people were put into place or if they show that problems still persists after the changes were made, which would be more worrisome.

SVR has been tracking recalls from Polaris and other manufacturers. These fires have caused death, serious injuries, and property damage. However, users of the vehicles that were repaired as part of the April recall continue to report fires, including total-loss fires. The RZRs were not included in the April recall, but these models have also experienced fires.

Ok Cancel. The settlement announced Monday was the agency's first major penalty levied since caps were raised last year. It was issued in conjunction with a new Polaris recall, this time forPolaris RZR vehicle models from to Commission officials said the fine related to Polaris' RZR and Ranger recreational off-road vehicles that contained defects.

Those defects potentially created "an unreasonable risk of serious injury or death," the CPSC said in a statement. Polaris spokeswoman Jess Rogers said that Polaris will e-mail and send letters directly to customers and will work with dealers to make sure customers learn about the recall and get free repairs. Patty Davis, CPSC spokeswoman, said it is important for customers to stop riding the vehicles and take them in for a free repair.

The agency said Medina-based Polaris — one of the largest players in the recreational vehicle category — knew some of its RZR models from to could catch fire and that the company had in fact received reports of fires. One of the fires resulted in the death of a year-old passenger. The company also knew of 11 reports of burn injuries and a fire that consumed 10 acres of land, the agency said.

Polaris said it was abiding by the settlement and that it had made great strides to improve the safety of its vehicles.

While the company agreed to the settlement, it did not admit guilt and said it "remains vigilant and focused on continually learning and bolstering its safety and quality practices. The penalty covers two series of violations, and is intended to enforce safety laws and ensure that customers are quickly informed about product risks.

During the past two years, Polaris centralized its product safety organization, created a new product-design process, hired additional quality and engineering experts, enhanced post-sales surveillance and data analysis and invested in new tools and processes — all in an effort to improve safety.

Polaris manufacturedof its to RZR models and its to RZR models, the agency said. As far as defects involving Polaris Ranger four-wheelers, the CPSC said that inthe company received 36 reports of fires involving some Rangers.

The agency said Polaris made design changes to those models to prevent heat shields from coming loose, but didn't report the fire and heat-shield problem to the government until Julywhen it recalled 42, Ranger models.

The CPSC said that after the recall, Polaris received customer reports of three more fires and several heat shields that loosened or fell off its model year Rangers. As part of the settlement, the agency said Polaris agreed to maintain "an enhanced compliance program" to ensure compliance with the Consumer Product Safety Act and a related system of internal controls and procedures designed to ensure timely reporting in the future.

The agency said RZR vehicles could have exhaust silencer fatigues or cracks. If present, the heat shield may fail, which could cause components to melt or catch fire. Monday's settlement and subsequent recall with the CPSC comes after hundreds of thousands of Polaris vehicles have been recalled in recent years for a host of problems including overheating, fuel leaks, steering-shaft problems and fires that led in some cases to injury and death. The company has since faced lawsuits, vehicle recalls, millions in warranty costs and a hit to the company's stock price.

Both of you have good thoughts though. I have been giving it some thought on a fan bypass on mine but yes if there is no flow or the radiator is plugged up like mine gets now and then with the dead wild flowers getting sucked in it that will not fix the problem. I had a boil over problem that happened last trip and and so fare the problem has not been found on why it did it. At this time I am not sure if it was a stock thermostat or the PCM did not receive the Fan on command from the temp sensor or it was a stuck fan.

Air trapped in the system would cause the fan not to come on and there is a procedure to purge the air and most of it was stated on my first post with the exception of removing the bleed screw on the thermostat housing. As for a fan bypass switch, There may be a problem since the PCM senses fan load and it may set a trouble code light if it tries to turn on the fan while the bypass switch is in the on position. I did test and then installed the fan over ride switch the other day and so fare it has not freaked out the PCM and has not set off the trouble light If nothing else works you can always try this.

In August of At first we thought that maybe the air hadn't been properly bleed from the cooling system but as the months went by we had logged at least 60 calls from people all over the US. At that point we decided to address this issue and see if we could find a solution.

E36 dme relay

We were having problems finding a unit that someone would let us proto-type a cooling package for so. I decided there was enough of a need for this that I would purchase one myself and get to work. So I went. The first thing that was obvious to me was that the inner cooler had a very high fin count FPI or fins per inch the fine aluminum material that zig zags back and forth between the tubes in the core if the fin count is to high it will restrict air flow through the radiator core.

What was happening in this case was the airflow restriction would eventually cause the inner cooler coolant to get hotter and hotter so that any air that was getting through could be as much as 45 degrees above what ambient temperature was.

This in turn would raise the engine coolant temperature engine radiator positioned right behind inner cooler radiator eventually to the point the engine would overheat and go into limp mode to protect the engine. We also felt like the engine radiator could be bigger and the fan as well. I have been in the automotive cooling industry for close to 30 years, through those years I have seen, built and worked on a lot of radiators.

We had a good understanding of what was causing the problem, now we need to create a solution that would take care of it. We strive to build our cooling products to remain in the factory location so as not to change the look of your ride. We also design as much cooling efficiency into our product to give you the best bang for your buck. Here is what we did We also used a 14 FPI count fins per inch so we could get better air flow through both radiators.

Third thing we did was to build a shroud for the radiator so we could make certain the air had to be drawn through the core and nowhere else.

2009 Rzr 800 Fan Breaker Tip

Fourth thing we done was the biggest challenge of all making it all fit in the factory location with almost no modification. We believe if we can build a quality product that fits every time and lasts we have accomplished our goal. After we released this product we had customers calling with comments like, I can actually drive my side by side without constantly having to back out of it to keep from going into limp mode. Another one said I'm running 25 degrees cooler, one said I'm an engineer asked me if I was, he couldn't believe we could design and build a replacement unit that was so much bigger while making it fit so well allowing room for any obstacles that were in the way.

We take great pride in what we do and have a desire to help our customers find solutions to there cooling problems. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this article and I hope you will return and view our future posts.Skip to main content. Engine Performance. Here is the solution for your overheating problems in marginal snow conditions.

By installing the MTNTK performance long tunnel cooler you will double your cooling surface area and coolant capacity. We started with a fresh design and had our own profile made because the other coolers on the market do not fit the tunnel properly and do not allow you to put the rivets back in the correct locations. This cooler is very simple to install and requires no cutting or welding to your original tunnel cooler. All connections are made between the fuel tank and the air box to maintain a stock appearance.

This tunnel cooler is available in a 5 foot length for maximum cooling or 3 foot length to increase cooling without the 5' weight penalty. The 5 foot cooler and added coolant capacity totals an 11 pound gain, but the cooling cannot be overstated.

The weight is far less noticeable than being stuck on the side of the trail with an overheat. With the 5' cooler you realistically maintain a deg engine temp even when going down the trail. The 3' cooler will dramatically reduce temps and for most sleds it will be the solution you have been dreaming of.

The engine runs much better when the heat is managed properly and you only need to be concerned about hyfax lubrication which is easily overcome with the use of the factory "scratchers". It is a liberating experience to ride without your engine overheating. We have been told that overheating on the trail is something that you have to live with because of the "modern" design of mountain sleds. This is simply not true.

How to Fix an Overheating Polaris 700 ATV

The weight wars on sleds has been beneficial at making sleds easier to ride and more capable but the cooling systems have become ineffective. These coolers are the answer you have been looking for. The all new Mini Tunnel Cooler is the perfect addition for those cutting their tunnels and experiencing temperature spikes, or for those who want additional cooling without having to worry about serious weight gains to their snowmobile.

Holding approximately 15 fl-oz of coolant, the Mini Tunnel Cooler only adds 4 lbs, but the cooling cannot be overstated. The Mini Tunnel Cooler is simple to install and requires absolutely no welding! Call For Information:.

I bought a '16 Turbo when they just came out back in September, I know better than to buy a first-year vehicle especially a plarisreally I do but sometimes I'm an idiot.

Okay, most of the time I'm an idiot. Anyway, I never really had heat issues with my XP My is tuned, but has the stock fan settings that don't even come on 'til or something like that. That's probably good 'nough in my book considering how hard a HP machine is working to keep up on a ride like that. Sooooooo, with that experience with my XPT and with plaris talking about the greatly improved XP Turbo cooling system and extensive testing I didn't even think twice about heat issues.

Again, I should have known better. Turbo vehicles always run hotter with all the heat they put into the oil and just the extra HP. Like the shit-bag company that plaris is, they initially denied everything about it. However, they eventually released a recall and reflash that brought the fan on sooner a band aid at best, it just gives you more time before it starts overheating, but isn't going to do anything about it once you get there. Then, not long after Polaris released a higher-CFM fan with a new harness because it draws a effe-ton of amps.

Samsung a750f combination file

That means you have to let your car get over multiple times for the "fix. Of course, for plaris releases the new XPT with an entirely new front-end the entire front bolt-on frame and all plastics are different with a WAY bigger radiator and front-opening that you cannot swap onto a without changing the front frame section, seriously.

Have I mentioned effe-plaris as a company yet? Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyway, the last few trips of this season in March '17, or about a year and a half into owning the Turbo.

Sure, there were elventeen recalls I had to get done, and I'm still pissed about the primary clutch I had to pay for, when later plaris decided to pay for them no-questions asked, but it's been driven hard, really hard. I saw or so before I started to back-off and cut corners. It stopped getting hotter, but also wasn't cooling down so I eventually stopped.

After that I took up the back of the line so I could try to be as smooth and easy on the throttle as I could, and cut some corners, it still got to pretty quickly and then eventually. I had pretty much the same experience on the rest of the day-runs for the season only 1 or 2 more short weekend trips.
